The Lordship Of Christ

If Jesus is really God who came in the flesh then we must consider what that means for our life. Many people look at the Christian life as a bunch of rules that must be followed. They see the Bible as God's rule book for us. While there are many things in the Bible that are rules (ex. the ten commandments) the Bible is really God's love letter to us. What He desires is a personal, ongoing relationship with us. This is hard to comprehend. Why would the God of the universe want to have a relationship with me? Well as a mother and father love, protect, and provide for their children so God loves, provides for, and cares for us. How then should we respond to Him as our parent? We should also desire to have an ongoing relationship with Him. We should also desire to please Him and follow His guidance and direction. He created the world and us and knows how it and we best function. He is God.

Our Relationship With Him:

• Galatians 4:1-7 ¹What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. ²He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. ³So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. ⁴But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, ⁵to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. ⁶Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” ⁷ So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.¹
  
  
• John 15:9-15 ⁹“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. ¹⁰If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. ¹¹I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. ¹²My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. ¹³Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴You are my friends if you do what I command. ¹⁵I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.²

Lordship:

• John 14:21 ²¹Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.³
  
  
• Matthew 7:21 ²¹Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.⁴
